IBM have announced that Power7, their family of superscalar symmetric multiprocessors, are being pushed to EoSL (their End-of-Support-Life). In practical terms, this means that should there be a concern or issue with Power7 by users, IBM will no longer offer support or hardware fixes for these products. However, this doesn’t mean that businesses working with Power7 need to give it up or change as Procurri can support you.
Why stop Power?
Power7 is now two generations old and some of the earliest models of it are already now EoSL. All models will gradually be phased out from the IBM support program, with the last of those doing so in December 2020. This decision will have been taken by IBM for two reasons; partially because of the costs of offering ongoing support, but also as a marketing decision to encourage customers to move to newer systems (namely, Power9, the most current server family in the IBM family).
Power7 is still used worldwide, and for many, it’s still perfectly functional. If this is the case for your end user, then you should get in touch with Procurri as soon as possible – because we can seamlessly take over the support offering where IBM leave off. Procurri have a long history of working with and for IBM, have a large stockholding of the relevant parts and employ teams of specialist technicians who are trained and experienced in working with the equipment.

Finances can be put aside to save for future upgrades whilst continuing to offer the same service the company has always, without service interruption or severance.
